Beirut - Saba:

The Lebanese Hezbollah party has confirmed that the popular sit-in organized by the party on Saturday "in condemnation of the blatant Israeli interference in Lebanese affairs, was a peaceful movement and a civilized expression of a popular position rejecting unjustified submission to external dictates."

The party considered, in a statement, that firing tear gas bombs at protesters by some elements in the army was a reprehensible act "and constitutes an unjustified attack on peaceful citizens. It is a suspicious attempt to drag the army into a confrontation with its people."

Hezbollah, from a position of concern, called on the army leadership to open an urgent investigation into this condemned attack and take appropriate measures to preserve the role of the military institution in protecting stability and civil peace.

The party also called on the Lebanese government to assume its full responsibilities in protecting peaceful protesters and their right to express their positions and demands, and demanded that it reverse its decision to prevent Iranian aircraft from landing at Beirut airport and take serious measures to prevent the Israeli enemy from imposing its dictates and encroaching on national sovereignty.

Hezbollah also condemned the incident that targeted the international emergency forces (UNIFIL) the day before yesterday in the vicinity of Rafik Hariri International Airport, and stressed its categorical rejection of any targeting of it, as well as any harm to public and private property.
