International Committee of Red Cross prepares for "precise operations" in Gaza
[Sun, 19 Jan 2025 18:40:48 +0300]

Gaza - Saba:
The "International Committee of the Red Cross" announced that it is preparing to implement a "precise operation" that includes facilitating the exchange of prisoners and detainees between the Palestinian factions and "Israel", in addition to intensifying humanitarian relief efforts in the Gaza Strip.

The ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the exchange of prisoners came into effect this morning, Sunday, which the mediators (Qatar, Egypt and the United States) announced reaching last Wednesday.

The committee said in a statement: It is "making preparations based on what was agreed upon by the parties (Hamas and "Israel") to begin implementing a precise operation that includes releasing the Zionist detainees and prisoners (Palestinians with Zionists) and facilitating their transfer, and intensifying the humanitarian response in the Strip."

She explained that her preparations include logistical details related to transportation, increasing the number of her teams, distributing the necessary supplies, and raising the readiness of the teams who will receive the prisoners and detainees who will be released "according to careful security planning", adding that these preparations are taking place "in an atmosphere charged with emotions for many".

The committee stressed that its main focus is "on completing the implementation of the first phase of the agreement as safely and efficiently as possible, so that we can witness the reunification of families and the arrival of critical humanitarian support to civilians in Gaza", describing the coming days and weeks as "critical" for all parties concerned. However, according to her, "the enormous humanitarian needs will remain (in the Strip) even after this process is completed, and in order to meet these needs, commitments (to continue providing aid) must be adhered to".
