Hajjah - Saba:

The rural hospital in Kaidna district, Hajjah governorate, witnessed a qualitative leap in providing health and medical services during the past period.

The drawn plans and projects implemented in the hospital resulted in expanding medical services for the people of the district and neighboring areas in Al-Zahra, Qafl Shammar, Al-Shahel and Abs.

The tangible development witnessed by the hospital translated the interest in working according to the directives of the wise revolutionary leadership and the plans and programs of the Ministry of Health and Environment, the local authority and the health office in the governorate to improve the level of services and alleviate the suffering of patients, especially in light of the current circumstances that the country is going through.

Despite the difficult circumstances imposed by the aggression and siege, the hospital, with the interest of the leadership of the ministry and the governorate and the support of the health office in the governorate and humanitarian affairs, implemented many projects to overcome all the difficulties imposed by the continuation of the current situation and provide health and medical services, the average number of beneficiaries per day reached 231 beneficiaries during the past two years.

The projects included the opening of a number of important medical departments that the hospital lacks, such as operations and the nursery, as well as the modernization of a number of departments and the introduction of the latest medical, therapeutic and diagnostic equipment to improve the services provided to patients and achieve safe and effective medical care for patients.

The hospital administration, in cooperation and coordination with the Health and Environment Office in the governorate and Humanitarian Affairs, worked to expand and develop services in accordance with the implementation of the infection control policy and increase the hospital's bed capacity to 63 beds.

The hospital administration paid attention to developing the capabilities of health and medical cadres by implementing training programs and activities in accordance with the plans and programs of the health office in the governorate to ensure the improvement of health performance and the development of services provided to patients.

A report issued by the hospital and received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) indicated that 166,918 services were provided to hospital visitors during the years 1444 AH and 1445 AH in all health and medical departments.

The report indicated that 45,631 citizens benefited from general emergency clinics, 6,938 benefited from internal medicine departments, and 6,877 from surgery.

The report issued by the hospital indicated that 8,341 benefited from the obstetrics and gynecology departments, while 8,506 children benefited from the services provided in the children's department.

According to the report, 17,857 people benefited from the injection clinics, 8,710 from the vaccination, 36,767 from the laboratory, and 1,659 from the dental clinic.

The report stated that the hospital performed 590 major, minor and medium operations and 593 natural births, while 2,324 visitors benefited from the emergency departments and 21 premature babies from the incubators.

The report indicated that 3,250 citizens benefited from the planning and radiology departments, including 602 planning, 958 television rays, 729 chest, 830 bones, and 127 abdomen.

The report indicated that the number of beneficiaries of the pharmacy during the past two years amounted to 16,888 beneficiaries, while 1,090 benefited from the hospitalization sections and 461 children from the malnutrition sections.

According to the report, the hospital provided free medical services to 415 inmates of the rehabilitation center in the governorate during the free medical camp organized in cooperation with the governorate's health office on the occasion of the celebration of the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet, may the best prayers and peace be upon him and his family.

The report explained the implementation of training courses for hospital staff in sorting medical waste, blood transfusion policy, antibiotic administration policy, code of professional conduct, recording data in patients' medical files, infection control, and implementing the quality system.

The courses also included, according to the report, sterilization methods, how to receive and deliver tools between workers in the departments during shifts, disaster management and mass casualties, and training workers on the medical, financial, and storage system.

The hospital director, Dr. Nabila Suhail, touched on the qualitative shift witnessed by the hospital, especially after the opening of the operations and nursery departments and alleviating the suffering of travel for the people of the directorate to travel to other areas to perform operations.

It pointed out that many major operations have been performed since the opening of the operating room, including operations that are being performed for the first time in the history of the hospital, which has reduced the suffering of patients to travel to other directorates.

It stressed that the hospital has worked to develop the level of medical services through a number of specialists, infection control, and improving health performance according to the program and plans of the health office in the governorate and the hospital.

The hospital director also stressed the keenness to continue to complete qualitative projects to expand the infrastructure in line with the development of medical services and overcome all difficulties and challenges.

It pointed out that the hospital needs to increase its bed capacity to 100 beds and establish a building for obstetric emergencies and specialized clinics to meet the needs of the people of the directorate and neighboring directorates and to face the great pressure on the hospital.
