Dhamar - Saba:
A six-day training course to prepare community trainers in disaster response and emergency situations concluded on Tuesday at the Civil Defense Authority branch in Dhamar province.
Coordinated with the general mobilization in the province, the course aimed to equip 24 participants, including civil and popular defense personnel, with specialized skills in responding to fire disasters, firefighting, rescue operations, victim search under rubble, first aid, and evacuation.
At the conclusion, province undersecretary Mahmoud al-Jabin emphasized the course's importance in enhancing participants' abilities to reduce disaster victims through effective rescue practices.
He highlighted the role of the graduates as a foundation for forming civil defense and relief teams in local communities, with the goal of having trained paramedics in every home.
Al-Jabin called for expanded training efforts to develop specialized teams in first aid, rescue, and disaster response and encouraged youth to volunteer in these critical humanitarian fields.
Colonel Ahmed al-Azab, Director of the Civil Defense Authority branch, stressed the importance of raising awareness about disaster prevention and response.
He noted that the participants had gained valuable knowledge on risk awareness, creating community capabilities to respond to disasters, and fostering partnerships with security agencies.
Al-Azab emphasized that well-prepared civil defense teams are crucial for providing humanitarian services and protecting communities during emergencies.
Trainee Ahmed Wasil, speaking on behalf of the participants, underscored the significance of the course and the vital skills they acquired in civil defense and disaster response.
