Seoul - Saba:
South Korea's parliament voted on Saturday in favor of impeaching President Yoon Suk-Yeol over the decision to declare martial law.
A total of 204 lawmakers voted in favor of the motion while 85 lawmakers opposed it.
Three lawmakers abstained and eight ballots were invalidated, according to the result announced by the speaker.
Yoon is the second president in South Korean history to be impeached after former President Park Geun-hye in 2017.
The first impeachment proposal on Saturday was canceled due to a lack of quorum after most lawmakers from Yoon's ruling People's Power Party boycotted the vote, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency.
Added to the proposal recently were allegations that martial law forces and police tried to arrest lawmakers under the president's command.
