UNRWA: North Gaza is witnessing humanitarian catastrophe amid food insecurity

Gaza - Saba:
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has warned that the level of food security in Gaza Strip is in danger, especially in the northern areas that are witnessing a humanitarian disaster, calling for the need to allow the entry of vital relief supplies, including food, water, fuel and medicine.

According to the organization's official website, Inas Hamdan, acting head of the organization's media office, said in a statement on Wednesday, "This is the situation that UNRWA and other UN agencies have been warning about for months, as the scenes in the north are shocking and terrifying and families have been besieged for more than two weeks, and houses, infrastructure and even its facilities in those areas such as a shelter and a school were bombed during the past days, while not allowing sufficient supplies and relief assistance to enter the population."

She pointed out that UNRWA staff continue to provide services despite all the challenges over the course of a year, but they are trapped with the population and are trying as much as possible to provide what they can offer them in those circumstances, and are asking for medical teams to be sent to support their work and the necessary supplies.
