SANA'A-SABA: The Yemeni Writers Union's General Secretariat has expressed its sorrow over the loss of the esteemed writer, journalist, and former editor-in-chief of Al-Wahda newspaper, Hassan Abdul Warith. He passed away today in Sana'a at the age of 62, having devoted much of his life to championing human values through his writing.
The statement, received by Saba, conveyed that Yemen's press and literary circles have suffered a great loss with the passing of Hassan Abdul Warith. He was a unique writer, particularly in his relationship with the truthful word, employing a rich, balanced, and mature language. He maintained a genuine and transparent stance, free from deceit or embellishment, and addressed societal, real-world, and human issues with a vision marked by clarity and underpinned by lofty values, to which he steadfastly adhered and with which he was in harmony.
The statement noted the march of the deceased, "through which he embodied the extent of sincere commitment to the issues of the homeland and the citizen, and the extent of full understanding of what he wants to write about, and express his position on it with integrity and credibility, as was his relationship with his colleagues and friends as a real human being does not change."
It pointed to the diversity of the late artist's creative experience between journalism, literature and poetry, and the books he issued that represent qualitative additions to the Yemeni literature library, noting the specificity of his satirical style in expressing the hopes and pains of reality.
