SANA'A - SABA :The Culture and Tourism Minister , Dr. Ali Al-Yafei, inspected on Wednesday the National Museum's conditions , the Popular Heritage Museum in Sana'a, and the role they play in providing knowledge, enlightenment and culture for successive Yemeni generations in introducing the ancient civilizations of Yemen, the size of its rich cultural and historical heritage.

Minister Al-Yafei, along with a number of the Ministry's leaders, was briefed on the nature of the work at the National Museum and the various archaeological holdings and witnesses, which tell different details about the history of ancient Yemeni cities , kingdoms in their various stages , eras, as well as the history of the Islamic state and the stages of its development and the most important stations witnessed in the country's history.

The Acting Director of the National Museum, Ibrahim Al-Hadi, and the Director of the Folklore Museum, Jamila Al-Dailami, and those in charge of the two museums, were briefed on the nature of the holdings, historical and archaeological evidence and examples of folklore that showed the greatness of the ancient Yemeni civilization, including cities, buildings, dams, temples and statues, as well as other folklore holdings, ways , means of displaying them , the detailed narratives that indicate the richness and diversity of the unique national folklore.

According to Minister Al-Yafei, Yemeni museums contain evidence and objects that make Yemenis proud, especially as they confirm that Yemen represents the cradle of human civilization and its first starting point. He pointed out that there are countries that celebrate , care about a history and civilization that is no more than 300 to 400 years old, while Yemen has what the world does not have in terms of archaeological holdings and evidence that belong to the beginnings of human history.

"Yemen is being subjected to an open war that includes all areas of life and targets everything, including cultural, historical, archaeological and tourism infrastructure, including museums and antiquities, which have been targeted by the aggression and its mercenaries, and their contents are looted, stolen and plundered," he said.

"Yemeni antiquities are sold in international auctions in Europe, Israel , America, and museums have been established in them from our antiquities and important artifacts that are displayed in those auctions due to looting and plundering by tamers, opportunists, agents and traitors," he added.

The Culture and Tourism Minister pointed out that one of the priorities of the government of change and construction is to claim , recover these antiquities , document and register a list of them. He stressed that the Culture and Tourism Ministry and the concerned authorities in the state should fulfill their role and responsibilities in preserving, restoring, maintaining, preserving, storing , protecting Yemeni antiquities , historical and cultural heritage.

He stressed that caring for and preserving Yemeni folklore is a shared responsibility borne by everyone without exception, to familiarize generations with the culture and history of previous nations, warning against compromising Yemeni antiquities and tampering with archaeological sites across the national territory.
