HODEIDA September 07. 2024 (Saba)- 16 Fishermen returned to Al-Khoba fish port in Al-Lahiya district, Hodeida Province, after several days of kidnapping and torture in Eritrea's prisons.

During their reception, Deputy Port Director Ammar Al-Lakoumi denounced the criminal practices of the Eritrean authorities against hundreds of Yemeni fishermen, pointing out that they represent war crimes against humanity , a blatant violation of international conventions and laws.

The fishermen explained that an Eritrean patrol kidnapped them while they were fishing in Yemeni maritime waters, and then took them to their prisons on Muqaidah Island under arms' force.

They confirmed that the Eritrean authorities practiced all kinds of torture against them and forced them to do hard labor under starvation and ill-treatment for 17 days, before releasing them after confiscating their property along with their fishing boat and equipment.
