DHAMAR August 31. 2024 (Saba) - Rescue teams in Wusab As Safil district, in Dhamar governorate, on Saturday recovered the bodies of 27 people and eight wounded, while the search for three missing people continues due to torrential rains that witnessed parts of the Wusab As Safil district, Dhamar governorate, on Friday evening.
The director of the Wessab Al-Safil Directorate, Fouad Al-Qudaimi, said in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the torrential rains caused the total and partial destruction of 23 houses and damaged dozens of other houses, and swept away four cars, two motorcycles and two shops, on Friday evening, in the areas of Al-Jurf in the district of Bani Musa Mikhlaf Qwair, and the Al-Hassab area, the district of Wadi Al-Khashab, the district of Wusab As Safil, after the heavy rains that the region witnessed, which lasted for hours.
Rescue efforts have been ongoing since yesterday evening, he said, while relief teams combing the area rushed to search for survivors, noting that the injured were taken to al-Thawra Hospital in al-Hodeida for treatment.
The local authority in Dhamar governorate declared the areas of Bani Musa and Wadi al-Khashab in the district of Wusab as Safil disaster areas, urging urgent intervention to search for survivors and recover the bodies of the deceased.
