TOKYO August 30. 2024 (Saba) - One of the most violent typhoons to hit Japan in decades brought heavy rain to the country's southern regions on Thursday, leaving one person missing.

Japanese media reported late on Monday that Typhoon Shanshan had made landfall on Kyushu, the main island of southern Japan, packing winds of up to 252 kilometers per hour.
