WASHINGTON August 30. 2024 (Saba) - The University of San Francisco in the United States of America withdrew its investments from several arms manufacturing companies that support the Zionist entity, under mounting pressure from the broad student movement that pushes for the cessation of investments and the imposition of a comprehensive boycott with the occupation institutions and all parties supporting it.
The American University's decision to withdraw its investments from four arms manufacturers involved with the Zionist entity came as a result of a wide student movement in dozens of universities in the United States, which faced repression through punitive measures that affected some participating students in order to deter others from participating in student protests as the new academic year approaches.
The American University's decision coincides with New York University's inclusion of criticism of Zionism on its hate speech list, a move that would have a chilling impact on pro-Palestine activism targeting the occupation.
Activists calling the University of San Francisco's decision a "major victory" to defend Palestinian rights in the United States.
