SANA'A August 28. 2024 (Saba) - Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister , Jamal Ahmed Amer, met on Wednesday with the Acting Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Sana'a, Peter Hawkins.

In the meeting, which was attended by the Senior Advisor to the Resident Coordinator, Awali Abdul Nasser, Minister Amer affirmed the Government of Change and Construction's serious intention to strengthen relations with the United Nations and its affiliated organizations, programs and agencies, as well as with its partner international organizations.

He explained that the President of the Supreme Political Council, His Excellency Field Marshal Mahdi Al-Mashat, directed the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry to work on strengthening relations with the United Nations and international organizations in accordance with the foundations of the Yemeni constitution and respecting the social and religious privacy of Yemeni society, and ensuring that relief aid reaches the most needy groups, especially in the areas affected by floods in Hodeida, Hajjah and Al-Mahwit provinces.

Minister Amer stressed that the directives of the President of the Supreme Political Council reinforce what is included in the work program of the Government of Change and Construction approved by the Parliament, indicating that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates will provide all facilities to all international organizations, enabling them to carry out their tasks according to their jurisdiction and what is granted to them.

He called on international organizations to distance themselves from interfering in political affairs and not to respond to the pressures they receive from some donor parties, especially America, which is trying to impose its hegemony through international organizations, and to interfere in the countries' internal affairs , especially those that do not respond to American desires.

In turn, Hawkins explained that the United Nations, its organizations, agencies and partner organizations have only a humanitarian role.

He stressed the keenness for organizations to carry out their duties in providing all forms of humanitarian support , assistance, and communicating with government authorities through the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry as it is the diplomatic channel, including serving the Yemenis.
