SANA'A August 20. 2024 (Saba) — Minister of Transport and Public Works Mohammed Qahim on Tuesday called for significant improvements in Yemen’s transport sector, emphasizing the need to develop institutional structures and enhance service delivery.

During a comprehensive meeting with transport sector leaders, Qahim highlighted the sector’s crucial role in providing essential humanitarian services through airports and ports.

He urged increased efforts to enhance technical and professional capabilities to better serve both local and international needs.

Qahim also stressed the importance of building capacity and upgrading skills within the sector to align with the government's broader developmental goals. The meeting included discussions on current challenges, particularly those arising from ongoing conflict and blockades.

Leaders from the Civil Aviation Authority, Land Transport Organization, Red Sea Ports Corporation, and Yemenia Airlines reported on recent achievements, including the restoration of Sana'a International Airport’s operations, resumption of aircraft maintenance, and revitalization of Hodeida Port.
