Activities of the National Festival of Yemeni Honey "Season Three" continue
SANA'A August 05. 2024 (Saba) - The activities of the National Festival of Yemeni Honey and Bee Products "The Third Season", which is held in Al Sabeen Park in Sana'a under the slogan "Yemen the home of honey", continue.

On the sidelines of the festival, the scientific sessions began on Monday with a lecture entitled "Diversity of Pharmaceutical Honey Production in Yemen" by Dr. Mohamed Al-Sharhi, Associate Professor of Bee Sciences, Dhamar University, in which he referred to the specifications and advantages that are unique to Yemeni honey compared to external or imported honey.

He touched on the factors and characteristics that helped the diversity of medicinal honey in Yemen, as well as the exceptional qualities to distinguish it from others, including that the bee breed in Yemen differs from other types of bees, although it is small in size at a time when its production is of high quality and great nutritional and therapeutic value.

Dr. Al-Sharhi stressed that Yemeni honey is produced in natural areas free of chemicals, in addition to that beekeepers do not extract royal jelly from honey, which makes it retain all its natural specifications, and the different agricultural environments helped to distinguish Yemeni honey.

The second lecture entitled "Beekeepers in Yemen Promising Investment Opportunities" was presented by Eng. Nafie Amin Al-Absi from the Investment Sector of the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Committee discussed the possibility of benefiting from and developing this economic product, and the possibility of investing in the requirements of beehives and honey products in the field of packaging and export.

The third lecture entitled "Pollen grains and their importance for bees and humans", presented by Dr. Anwar Al-Maqtari from the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension, indicated that Yemeni honey is characterized by retaining its natural properties of pollen grains, royal jelly, and bees, which made it a product of high therapeutic and nutritional value and gave it a delicious taste and good flavor.

The six-day festival, organized by the Honey Production Unit of the Higher Agricultural and Fisheries Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, aims to revive the status of Yemeni honey and promote the marketing of Yemeni brands globally.

It enjoys wide participation from institutions, the private sector, honey producers, beekeepers, cooperative societies working in the field of beekeeping, and visitors, and includes various presentations and paragraphs that seek to keep pace with modern developments in honey production and marketing.
