GAZA August 05. 2024 (Saba) - Khalil al-Hayya, Deputy Head of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" in the Gaza Strip, announced on Monday that the movement will finalize its consultations to choose a new leader within days.
This follows the assassination of the head of the political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, Iran, early Wednesday.
According to the Sama News Agency, al-Hayya made this announcement during his speech at Haniyeh's condolence council in Doha, Qatar, which was broadcast by the movement on the "Telegram" platform.
Al-Hayya reassured supporters, stating, "Do not worry about Hamas, as a leader has left us, but the movement is managed through our institutions, and there is no vacuum with the martyrdom of the leader."
He added, "We are a unified leadership, we hold our meetings and manage our work with full responsibility. In a few days, we will conclude our consultations to choose a new leader for this movement, to follow the path of Haniyeh and Yassin, and continue on the path of the martyrs of the Palestinian people."
Meanwhile, Zionist enemy forces continue their aggression on the Gaza Strip, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cessation and the International Court of Justice orders to prevent acts of genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
