TEHRAN July 31. 2024 (Saba) - Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri has affirmed Iran's right to respond appropriately to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and the violation of its sovereignty.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Bagheri condemned the assassination as a blatant violation of international law and a direct affront to Iran's national security.
Bagheri highlighted Haniyeh’s role as a key Palestinian leader and a guest of the Iranian government during the inauguration of Iran’s new president. He emphasized that the assassination, carried out by what he termed a “terrorist mafia” ruling the occupied Palestinian territories, constitutes a serious breach of international norms and the UN Charter.
He called for the UN Security Council to address the threat posed by ongoing terrorist and aggressive acts by the Zionist regime, stressing Iran’s determination to respond to the attack in a manner deemed appropriate.
