HODEIDA July 29. 2024 (Saba) - Members of the development team supervising the stages of the date value chain in Hodeida inspected the date farmers' farms and collection centers at the associations' headquarters in the districts of Al- Duraihimi , At Tahtiya and the Al-Jah area in Bayt Al-Faqih district.
During the visit, the team was briefed on the level of commitment of those in charge of the dates value chain links regarding the implementation of the agreed upon stages within the framework of the strategy to replace the local product with the imported product based on the directives of the revolutionary leadership , the Supreme Political Council to work on the path of achieving self-sufficiency and replacing the local product with the imported product.
The Deputy Director of Marketing and Agricultural Trade, Salem Malouh, explained that the visit comes in implementation of the outcomes of the dates value chain workshop, which was organized by the Cooperative Union, the Value Chains Program, the General Administration of Marketing at Agriculture Ministry , and the Bunyan Development Foundation, under the auspices of the Supreme Agricultural and Fisheries Committee and development partners.
For their part, the Date Value Chain Officer in the Agricultural Committee and the representative of the Cooperative Union, Abdulrahman Hazaa, the head of Al-Duraihimi Association, Jaber Kayal, the coordinators of the Bunyan Foundation and representatives of traders and companies, considered the strategy a blessed step that adds to the record of achievements in the practical response to the goals of the directives of the revolutionary leadership , the Supreme Political Council in caring for the Yemeni farmer , the local product to achieve self-sufficiency and enhance food security.
They pointed out that all stages and steps of the strategy are proceeding smoothly and in accordance with the agreed-upon executive plan, stressing that the three cooperative societies were able to supply 252,704 kilograms of dates at an amount of 110 million and 788 thousand riyals out of the total value of contracts concluded with traders and companies amounting to five thousand and 500 tons of dried dates.
