UNRWA calls for independent probe into bombing on school in Gaza

GAZA July 08. 2024 (Saba) - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) on Monday called for an independent investigation into the bombing that targeted an UNRWA-run school housing two thousand displaced people in Nossairat camp in the central Gaza Strip.

"The longer the war lasts, the deeper the rift becomes and the more the population’s suffering increases," the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, said on the “X” platform, according to Sama News Agency, renewing his call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

"Since the war began, our facilities have been bombed, some several times, some directly, as a result, 520 people were killed and nearly 1,600 were injured while searching for some safety," Lazzarini added.
The Israeli army repeats the claim that UNRWA facilities are used by Palestinian groups, and "we reiterate that these are allegations rejected by UNRWA," he continued.

16 Palestinians, most of them children and women, were martyred on Saturday, in a Zionist bombing that targeted a school housing displaced people in Nossairat in the central Gaza Strip.
