GAZA July 07. 2024 (Saba) - The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini on Sunday called again for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after nine months of brutal war.
Lazzarini said on X that the longer the war lasts, the deeper the rift becomes and the more the population’s suffering increases,” calling for an independent investigation into the Zionist enemy’s bombing of an agency-affiliated school housing two thousand displaced people in Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip.
He added: "Since the war began, our facilities have been bombed, some several times, some directly. As a result, 520 people were martyred and nearly 1,600 were injured while searching for some safety."
The UN official continued "The repeated claim from Israel is that our facilities are used by Palestinian groups, and we reiterate that these are allegations rejected by UNRWA."
Saturday, 16 Palestinians, most of them children and women, were martyred in a Zionist bombing that targeted a school housing displaced people in Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip.
