Confessions of spy cell reveal US subversive role of electricity sector in Yemen

SANA'A July 07. 2024 (Saba) - As part of a general subversive trend, the Americans have worked over the past years and decades to target the electric power sector in Yemen, under various titles and pretexts, in an effort to privatize this sector and enable subsidiaries and controlled by America to control it.

According to the confessions of a member of the American spy network, Hisham al-Wazir, one of the pretexts used by the Americans in this regard was the government's inability to provide investments in hard currency to establish major stations to provide the country's needs of electrical energy.

He stated that the Americans were providing the Yemeni government with a group of American and foreign investors who own international transcontinental companies to provide electricity in the country, in addition to pushing the country towards relying on leased energy, which the British company "Aggreko" provided at the time in exchange for contracts in hard currency paid by the government as an alternative to not establishing national power plants.

He pointed out that the previous regime was in line with the American trend related to the privatization of the electricity sector and cooperation with the Americans, the World Bank and other foreigners to implement what they seek, as the government at that time had begun to prepare and prepare laws to privatize the electricity sector, and allow American and foreign companies to be able to do so.

He stated that the American company "General Electric" was seeking to be able to control the energy sector in Yemen, and the American "Roland McKay" was coordinating with it permanently and seeking to enable it to the sector through the Ministry of Electricity by recruiting agents in the ministry or ministers to be subordinate and implementers of American policies.

He stated that the Americans were relying on these people to represent General Electric and represent a second American group that was seeking to invest in the electricity sector by establishing power stations in several areas such as Maʽbar by taking advantage of the natural gas project so that a gas pipeline would be extended from Marib to Maʽbar to generate electricity in the same way that the Marib gas station operates, given that Yemen owns very large quantities of gas that allow it to sell abroad and generate electricity and provide it at cheap prices. Contribute to the establishment of an industrial sector linked to America and the West, and at the same time obtain energy from American foreign companies and Western companies linked to the Americans.

In the context of US conspiracies against the energy sector in Yemen, spy Jamil al-Faqih explained in the context of his confessions published by the security services that the American side was interested in knowing all the information about the General Electricity Corporation, the state of electrical energy in the country, and how the needs of the northern and southern governorates are covered.

Al-Faqih prepared a report for the American side, in which he stated that the majority of electricity is commercial and does not amount to serving large and giant projects that need high electrical energy, and that all power plants have been targeted by the aggression coalition, so people rely heavily on solar energy or commercial electrical stations scattered in the neighborhoods.

The American subversive role extended to all sectors and institutions of the state, including the water sector, which the American was keen to know all the information and details related to it so that it could intervene to implement its malicious plots to harm the Yemeni people, and to exploit the existing lack of basic services as a result of the aggression to fuel public discontent among citizens.

In this regard, the spy al-Faqih provided the American officer "Dareen" with the information he requested about the Water Corporation and the water services provided, in which he informed him that the national network covers only about 30 percent of the capital and Sana'a, while 70 percent of citizens rely on water and underground wells for water.

He stressed that the US side was interested in obtaining all information related to the deterioration of basic services such as electricity and water, to employ them to serve their purposes and destructive tendencies, provoke public discontent, and target the country's economy and the remaining services in it.

In addition to the corruption and incompetence of previous regimes and governments, the American conspiracies against the electric power sector led to the destruction of this vital sector, on which the rest of the economic and productive sectors depend, making the country lack all the elements of economic advancement.
