SANA'A July 01. 2024 (Saba) - A workshop on forming women's justice committee began in Sana'a organized today, Monday, by the Ministry of Human Rights in cooperation with the Women's Protection Bloc.
The workshop, with the participation of 35 participants and participation from the offices of the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministers of Social Affairs, Labour, Interior, Human Rights, Planning and Development, Legal Affairs, the Office of the Attorney General, the Skimsha, the National Committee for Women, the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the Yemeni Women’s Union, and civil society organizations, aims to mobilize support and advocacy for the formation of the Women’s Justice Committee and enhance accountability. Legal and achieving justice to protect human rights, in accordance with Islamic law, national laws and international agreements.
Al-Dailami stressed the nature of the partnership with the relevant authorities in the committee, which must be of an influential nature and not formal or formal, indicating that the committee will be concerned with women’s justice in various fields, especially since women have problems in the judicial, social and other aspects.
He expressed his confidence that official bodies and civil society organizations will play their role in promoting real and effective partnership within the framework of the committee and benefit from previous experiences in this aspect, especially with regard to the experience of “justice for children in contact with the law.”
Minister Al-Dailami stated that the formation of the Women's Justice Committee is the result of previous activities, workshops and events, implemented by the Ministry in partnership with the concerned and relevant authorities, stressing the need to focus on priorities , issues related to forgotten and illiterate women.
He added, "Women's problems have increased as a result of the aggression and siege in recent years and the current humanitarian conditions." He stressed the lack of focus or giving importance to international mechanisms in this aspect, because they are completely dysfunctional and absent with regard to human rights in Yemen due to the double standards that have dealt with them during the past nine years the destruction, killing, crimes committed against Yemen’s land and people by the American, Saudi, and Emirati aggression.
In the workshop, which was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Rights, Ali Saleh Tayseer, the Director General of Women’s Development at the Ministry of Human Rights - the workshop coordinator, Mona Al-Saqqaf, reviewed the objectives of the workshop in mobilizing support and advocating for the formation of the Women’s Justice Committee, in accordance with the Islamic vision and standards, improving the quality of services provided to them, working to empower women economically and socially.
She explained that the workshop comes to contribute to national monitoring and evaluation of the situation of women in society by participating in developing policies and programs to improve their standard of living and activating aspects of cooperation and partnership with governmental and non-governmental institutions to promote women’s rights and protection.
