SANA'A June 30. 2024 (Saba) -The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning predicted varying thunderstorms in several governorates, and hot to very hot weather in desert areas, plains and coasts during the next 24 hours.

According to the weather forecast issued by the center, a copy of which was received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), thunderstorms of varying intensity are expected in parts of the governorates of Al-Bayda, Abyan and Lahj Heights, Al-Dhale, Ibb, Raymah and Dhamar.

While scattered rains, accompanied by thunder, may sometimes fall on parts of the governorates of Taiz, Sana'a, Amran, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, Saada, and extend to parts of the Hadramawt and Al-Mahra plateaus and Shabwa heights.

The center pointed to the possibility that the weather will be hot to very hot in desert areas, plains and coasts, where maximum temperatures range between 39-45 degrees Celsius.

Active to strong winds are likely around the Socotra archipelago, the Gulf of Aden and the eastern and southern coasts.

The center stated that the amount of rain that fell during the past 24 hours in some weather stations was as follows: 32.6 mm, Al-Saddah. Ibb: 26.6, Raymah: 21.3, Dhamar: 10, Baadan.Ibb: 9.2, Ibb: 2.2, Hodeidah: 1.9, Saada: 1.6, Mahweet: 0.2, Amanat Al-Asimah: ranged between 1.0 - 13.5 mm.

Rains also fell in parts of the governorates of Al-Mahra, Hadramawt, Shabwa, Al-Bayda, Abyan, Lahj and Tihama Plain, and were outside the scope of monitoring stations.

The center warned citizens in areas expected to rain from being in torrential streams during and after rain and thunderstorms, and a decrease in horizontal visibility on mountain roads due to rain and fog formation.

It also warned sea-goers, fishermen and shipmasters around the Socotra archipelago, the Gulf of Aden and the eastern and southern coasts of sea turbulence and high waves.

It also warned citizens in desert and coastal areas and plains of hot and very hot weather and advised not to be directly exposed to sunlight at noon, and to drink plenty of water and fluids.
