Meeting headed by Minister Al-Bukhaiti discusses preparations for starting production of electric poles

SANA'A June 29. 2024 (Saba) - An expanded meeting, headed by the Minister of Electricity and Energy in the caretaker government, Dr. Muhammad Al-Bukhaiti, discussed today, Saturday, preparations to begin producing and manufacturing iron and concrete electrical poles in the workshops of the General Corporation for Electrical Industries and Renewable Energy and their use in the electrical distribution network.

The meeting, which included the Director General of the General Electricity Corporation, Dr. Meshal Al-Rifi, his deputy for financial and administrative affairs, Abdullah Qarada, and representatives of the Electrical Industries Corporation and Rural Electricity, discussed the practical steps to begin producing and manufacturing electrical energy materials, equipment, supplies, and to gradually progress in production to reach the desired goals for higher levels.

The meeting stressed the need for the specialized technical team to prepare the appropriate specifications and engineering designs for the medium-pressure network of 11 kilovolts , the low-pressure network of 400 volts, and all accessories complementary to the tubular steel columns and towers, 11 meters long and 9 meters long, within two weeks.

The Minister of Electricity urged the team to prepare the technical guide for training occupational safety and health inspectors within a month, taking into account the preparation of designs in the field of use, climatic conditions, terrain, occupational safety, issues of lengths and height above the ground.

Minister Al-Bukhaiti stressed that work comes within the framework of the state’s efforts to move qualitatively towards production, industrialization and self-sufficiency, given the difficulty of providing wooden electrical poles at the present time, in light of the increasing demands for poles by the General Electricity Corporation and Rural Electricity for the construction and rehabilitation of distribution networks.

He pointed out that this trend comes in light of the difficult circumstances that Yemen is going through as a result of the aggression , siege, and the resulting high costs of transporting wooden poles.
