SANA'A June 11. 2024 (Saba) - The National Program to Address the Begging Phenomenon reached a milestone this Tuesday as it wrapped up a comprehensive training initiative aimed at social rehabilitation, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment for its participants.

Over the course of three weeks, the program endeavored to equip 102 individuals with the necessary skills in social reintegration, entrepreneurial acumen, and small-scale project management. The ultimate goal? To empower these individuals to steer their own economic destinies within the framework of the program's overarching vision.

In his concluding remarks, Yasser Sharaf Al-Din, the Executive Director of the National Program, underscored the program's commitment to uplifting the targeted vulnerable population from the throes of destitution towards a path of lawful livelihood. He emphasized that the graduation of a cohort proficient in social rehabilitation and small-scale project management stands as a testament to the transformative potential of Zakat, touching lives across the nation.

The ceremony, graced by the presence of dignitaries such as Undersecretary of the Capital Sana'a Sami Sharaf al-Din and Undersecretary of the General Authority for Zakat Mohammed al-Ayani, garnered accolades for the program's tireless efforts in rehabilitating and training the vulnerable, thereby enhancing their quality of life through economic empowerment via income-generating ventures.

Al-Ayani lauded the program's noble endeavor to honor the dignity of individuals, emphasizing the collective responsibility of both governmental and societal entities in empowering this vulnerable demographic. He lauded the leadership of Mr. Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi for his commitment to elevating beggars from their plight and steering them towards gainful employment, thereby preserving their dignity and self-worth.

Furthermore, Al-Ayani affirmed the unwavering support of the Zakat Authority towards the program's endeavors to tackle the scourge of begging, expressing optimism that, through meticulous planning and collaborative efforts with pertinent authorities, thousands more individuals will undergo rehabilitation and empowerment.

In a poignant address on behalf of the trainees, Adel Hizam articulated how the training and skills acquisition in entrepreneurship had instilled a newfound sense of confidence and reliance on Providence among the participants. He lauded the program's emphasis on economic empowerment and the creation of small-scale enterprises, which offer tangible pathways to sustenance for the beneficiaries.

Hizam reiterated the collective resolve of the trainees to earnestly engage in their respective projects, striving to earn an honorable livelihood and provide for their families through diligent work.
