MOSCOW June 10. 2024 (Saba) - Russia on Monday affirmed that recent events on the international stage have unveiled the facades of the West, which seeks to impose its own system on the world.
According to Russia Today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated during a meeting of "BRICS" foreign ministers in Nizhny Novgorod city: "Supporters of this concept are trying to impose standards and mechanisms of interaction that only harm them."
Lavrov added, "They aim to replace equal dialogue with narrow alliances that work in secrecy and assume the right to speak on behalf of peoples and the entire world."
He continued, "At the same time, the United States and its allies do not abandon attempts to maintain their elusive dominance and slow down objective processes towards forming multipolar pluralism."
He concluded, "They are using economic tools as weapons, imposing sanctions and financial blackmail, and trying to influence the choice of development models and trade partners by sovereign states."
BRICS now represents 45% of the world's population and 36% of the global GDP, exceeding the contribution of the Group of Seven industrialized countries, which stands at 30%.
It is worth noting that at the beginning of this year, 2024, the BRICS group includes Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa.
