OCCUPIED AL-QUDS May 17. 2024 (Saba) - Tens of thousands of Palestinians attended Friday prayers at the revered al-Aqsa Mosque, despite intensified restrictions imposed by the Zionist enemy on those entering al-Quds.
According to the Islamic Waqf Department in al-Quds, 25,000 worshippers performed Friday prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque, along with absentia prayers for the souls of martyrs from the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The enemy forces detained young Ahmad Iyad al-Abbasi upon his entry to al-Aqsa Mosque compound after subjecting him to brutal beatings.
The enemy forces assaulted another youth near al-Asbat Gate, preventing him from entering the mosque before Friday prayers.
They prevented young men from accessing the Old City through al-Amoud, Sahira, and al-Asbat Gates after detaining and checking their identities.
Addressing the congregation, al-Aqsa Mosque's speaker Mohammed Sarnadah condemned any violation of the sanctity of the mosque on both international and legal grounds, holding those responsible under their protection accountable.
He questioned, "Where is the solidarity among our own people towards our children and women who lack food, water, medicine, and shelter? Where is that Islamic solidarity towards those who have no security?"
Sarnadah added "The oppressed and displaced in Gaza have found support from free hearts worldwide, including intellectuals from universities and scholars, because we are on the right path. Allah has replaced those who oppose them with those who embrace humanity and compassion."
Addressing the "negligent," he asked, "Have you forsaken the love for the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him? Solidarity is a religious, social, and human demand. That's why we are commanded to attend Friday prayers and congregations to dissolve the differences among members of society, between the rich and the poor, the powerful and the weak, the leader and the led. Solidarity is a religious objective that spares no one; rather, it's the responsibility of leaders to promote solidarity and sow its seeds among society members."
Addressing Muslims, he stated, "We are one body. If their mosque is in distress, they rally to its defense and vigilance. Do not ignore their pleas, the cries of anguish, and the suffering of al-Aqsa and its people. This is the responsibility of the Islamic world towards the sanctuary, both as nations and individuals."
He concluded, "We love al-Aqsa Mosque, and it loves us back. It's a trust on our shoulders, a part of our faith and religion, Preserve your unity towards your blessed mosque, for it is a trust around our necks."
