PARIS May 08. 2024 (Saba) - French police stormed Sorbonne University and forcibly evacuated a hall in which pro-Palestine students were protesting, using batons against the protesters.
Agence France-Presse reported today that French police stormed Sorbonne University to evacuate pro-Palestine activists from a classroom at the prestigious Parisian university, less than 24 hours after Prime Minister Gabriel Attal pledged that there would never be the right to disrupt French universities.
The protesters chanted in the classroom (Rafah, Rafah, we are with you) and chanted slogans denouncing the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip, while the police attacked a number of them and arrested 39 people among them.
While the police were evacuating the protesters from the classroom, dozens of supporters of the Palestinian cause were gathering near the security cordon that the police had imposed around the university, chanting (Palestine will live, Palestine will win).
This protest movement at the prestigious Sorbonne University comes a few days after protests were recorded at Sciences Po University in Paris.
This student movement in universities, in support of Palestine and rejecting the Israeli aggression on Gaza, was sparked in American universities from Columbia University to California and elsewhere, and was met with repression by the American police.
