TEHRAN May 04. 2024 (Saba) - Iran's Tasnim International Agency reported today that the IRGC Navy's Shahid Mahdavi ship, equipped with long-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, crossed the equator and entered the southern hemisphere.

The Shahid Mahdavi vessel, which was added to the IRGC Navy in March 2023, weighs more than 2,100 tons, is 240 meters long and 27 meters wide.
The ship has a variety of advanced radars, such as three-dimensional radar, missile systems, surface-to-surface, surface-to-air, Som Khordad and other advanced communication systems.
In addition, Shahid Mahdavi is the first Iranian ship equipped with long-range ballistic missiles.
In February last year, official news of the launch of a ballistic missile from this ship was published, and according to photos published by the IRGC Navy, two ballistic missiles with a range of about 1,700 kilometers were launched from inside two containers towards their targets.
According to the IRGC navy commander, in addition to long-range ballistic missiles, 2,000 kilometers of cruise missiles codenamed Qadr 474 have also been installed on this ship.
According to Admiral Tangsiri, the IRGC's most important mission in distant waters is to find and maintain maritime sovereignty and ensure the security of shipping lanes.
