N'DJAMENA March 27. 2024 (Saba) - At least seven Chadian soldiers were killed in a landmine blast in an area controlled by armed groups, including the Nigerian group Boko Haram.

President Mohamed Idriss Deby said in a statement that seven Chadian soldiers were killed after their vehicle passed over a landmine in the Lake Chad area while they were on patrol.

Deby added that a number of other soldiers were injured in the explosion taken place in Chokotelia, about 200 kilometers from the capital, N'Djamena.

Deby took power after his father, Idriss Déby Itno who ruled Chad for more than 30 years and died in 2021 while fighting rebels.
