MOSCOW March 26. 2024 (Saba) -The Russian foreign ministry on Tuesday handed the Australian charge d'affaires a memo in protest of a "false statement" issued by his mission in Moscow about the Russian presidential elections.

Germy Guthrie was summoned to the ministry on 22 March, the ministry said in a release, as the Australian diplomat was given a strong objection over the statement, posted by the embassy on Telegram, that questioned the integrity of Russian lands.

"We called on the embassy to delete its message and take measures needed to insure such events would not repeat," the ministry added, as the charge d'affaires was told "these actions by the diplomat mission are deemed as interference in Russian internal affairs."
