Zionist enemy escalates its brutal aggression by assassinating Al-Arouri

SANA'A January 03. 2024(Saba) - To escape defeat, the Zionist enemy chose another form of aggression and escalation, which is targeting the leaders of the Palestinian factions, as the Zionist enemy assassinated the Palestinian leader Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri on Tuesday.

The Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" announced the martyrdom of the deputy head of its political bureau, Saleh Al-Arouri, and two of his companions, in a "Zionist strike" on the southern suburb of Beirut.

According to the Lebanese official media agency, a “Zionist march bombing” targeted a Hamas office, in the Musharrafieh residential area, during a meeting of Palestinian leaders.

The agency indicated that six people were killed and others wounded, including Hamas members and Lebanese civilians.

A member of Hamas' political bureau, Izzat al-Rishq, said in a statement: "The cowardly assassinations carried out by the Zionist enemy will not succeed in breaking the will and steadfastness of the Palestinian people."

For his part, the head of the Lebanese caretaker government, Najib Mikati, said: “This explosion implicates Lebanon and is a clear response to the efforts we are making to remove the specter of the ongoing war in Gaza from Lebanon.”

Mikati also asked Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib to “submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council against the backdrop of the blatant targeting of Lebanese sovereignty with the bombing that occurred in the southern suburb of Beirut.”

Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh condemned the "assassination operation" and described it as "a crime that bears the identity of its perpetrators."

A hundred Palestinians gathered in the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank to denounce the assassination of Al-Arouri, and the Fatah movement announced - in Ramallah on Wednesday - a “general and comprehensive strike in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorates in response to the assassination” of Al-Arouri in Beirut.

The Islamic Jihad movement also mourned Sheikh Al-Arouri, saying: “The Zionist strike is an attempt to drag the entire region into war to escape the military failure in the Gaza Strip.”

Al-Arouri not the first Palestinian leader to be assassinated by the enemy on Lebanese soil, and he will not be the last, since the beginning of the armed struggle, the Zionist intelligence services have worked to pursue and kill Palestinian faction leaders in various countries of the world.

Since the 1970s, Beirut has been a theater for Palestinian resistance factions and a stable for leaders of armed movements, which made it targeted by the Zionist security services.

Who is Saleh Al-Arouri?

Sheikh Saleh Al-Arouri (51 years old) was born in the town of Aroura near Ramallah in 1966 AD, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in “Islamic Sharia” from Hebron University in the West Bank, he married with two daughters.

Al-Arouri contributed to establishing the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas in the West Bank, between 1991 and 1992, he was arrested by the Zionist enemy in 1992 and spent more than 15 years in prison.

He was re-arrested in 2007 until 2010 when the Zionist Supreme Court decided to release him and deport him outside the Palestinian territories, he was then deported to Syria and settled there for three years before leaving to settle in Lebanon.

Sheikh Al-Arouri is one of the members of the negotiating team to complete the prisoner exchange deal between the Zionist enemy and Hamas in 2011, with Egyptian mediation, under which the Zionist soldier, Gilad Shalit, who was held captive by Hamas, was released.
