TEHRAN December 05. 2023 (Saba) - Leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyed Ali Khamenei has stressed that “the capabilities of Iran and Cuba must be exploited to form a coalition between countries that reject American dictates and arrogance and have a single position regarding Washington’s policies.”
According to Iranian news agencies, Khamenei’s words came during his meeting with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel who arrived in Tehran.
The Cuban President's visits is the first in more than two decades.
In this context, he said: This coalition can take joint and influential positions on international issues, including the Palestinian issue.
Khamenei pointed out that Havana's positions are identical to Tehran's positions on international issues and the Palestinian issue, stressing the strengthening of the level of relations between the two countries in all fields, especially scientific ones, and moving forward with understandings and agreements, and translating them on the ground through their implementation.
In the context of the enemy war on Gaza, he pointed out that the issue of Palestine is not limited to what is happening during this Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, but rather stressed that the Palestinian people have been subjected to all forms of torture, destruction and get killed for 75 years.
Khamenei explained that the current aggression has exacerbated the catastrophe to the point that the reality of the Palestinian issue has become clear to the entire world, and it can no longer be hidden.
For his part, the Cuban President affirmed that his country's relations with Iran took the right path after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, noting the focus on deepening relations, especially in the trade and economic fields.
He supported the context in which Sayyed Khamenei spoke about forming an alliance against Washington, saying “Cuba and Iran can be alongside each other and complement each other, in the face of American interventions and sanctions.”
He added deepening relations between the two countries could affect international issues, including the Palestinian issue.
Regarding the Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip, Diaz-Canel stressed that those who always complained about the killing of civilians in Ukraine are silent today in the face of scenes of the killing of thousands of Palestinian civilians.
He pointed out that this duality “indicates an extremely negative situation that prevails in the international community.”
He expressed his surprise that international organizations were watching the killing of tens of thousands of Gazans, two-thirds of whom were women and children.
