PYONGYANG November 23. 2023 (Saba) - The North Korean satellite has taken imagery for Anderson airbase and Apra seaport in the US island of Guam and sent them to Pyongyang, the NK central news agency said on Thursday, one day after the artificial moon was situated at orbit.
In his visit to the national astronautics department's satellite control center, President Kim Jong Un watched the images sent by the reconnaissance satellite 'Maligyong-1', the agency added, as the images were received at 09:21 AM.
The man-made moon was launched on the new missile 'Cholima-1' from the North Korean western coast at 10:42 PM Tuesday, the agency said on Wednesday, noting that the asset would start mission on 1 December.
There is a need to run more survey satellites, President Kim said, in order to enhance Pyongyang self-defense capacities and boost efficiency of military targeting means.
The Korean leader accused Washington of shifting the region into "an advanced base to its hostile forces and nuclear arsenal," by deploying US military assets in the Korean Peninsula.
