GAZA November 18. 2023 (Saba) - Today, Saturday, the Zionist-American aggression forces forced the medical staff, patients, wounded, and displaced persons in the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza to forcibly leave, under threat of force.
The director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Muhammad Abu Salamiya, announced in a press statement that the evacuation operations had begun from the hospital following the one-hour deadline given by the Zionist-American aggression to evacuate the sick, wounded, displaced, and medical staff.
Abu Salamiya said, "After the evacuation, five members of the medical staff and about 120 patients who were unable to walk remained in the hospital due to their foot injuries, and coordination was made with the United Nations to evacuate them."
He continued, "The remaining 30 premature babies are still alive in the hospital, and coordination has been made with the Red Cross to get them out as well."
For his part, the Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir Al-Bursh, said in statements reported by the Palestinian Information Center that the aggression forces requested the evacuation of the Al-Shifa Complex of medical staff, the wounded, the injured, and the displaced.
He stated that the United Nations contacted and informed that it would work to coordinate the evacuation of the wounded and sick who were unable to move, as it would work to evacuate them.
He pointed out that they emerged from among the tanks and rifle barrels of the occupation snipers, and from among the midst of massive destruction, indicating that the enemy set a path to move from the hospital via Al-Wahda Street and then move towards Salah al-Din to move to the south of the Gaza Strip.
In turn, the emergency supervisor at Al-Shifa Complex, Dr. Omar Zaqout, confirmed the supervisor Not everyone was able to leave, indicating that the path towards departure was very painful as a result of the destruction and the presence of the bodies of martyrs.
He said: The displaced were asked to head to Al Wahda Street, and many children and adults were unable to continue walking in the absence of ambulances or other means of movement.
This comes at a time when the hospital has been subjected to a severe siege by the Zionist-American aggression forces for days, amid continued fuel shortages, power outages, and scarcity of medical supplies, food, and potable water.
Al-Shifa Medical Complex had previously announced the death of dozens of patients within two days due to a power outage and the cessation of vital medical equipment from working, in addition to the inability to perform many surgical operations, and the aggression forces also prevented access to the central pharmacy in the complex.
