WASHINGTON October 24.2023 (Saba) - The US military's Central Command announced on Wednesday that a squadron of F-16 fighter jets had arrived in the Middle East.

"An exploratory squadron of F-16 fighters arrived in the Central Command to reinforce the American presence and deter any aggression," Russia Today quoted the Central Command in a statement on X.

The Central Command region has 21 countries in the Middle East, North East Africa, Central and South Asia.

Earlier, the United States decided to send two aircraft carriers to the Middle East region.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the deployment of the USS Eisenhower aircraft carrier group was aimed at "deterring hostilities against the Zionist entity or any efforts aimed at expanding this war.

Sources at the Department of Defense revealed last week that the United States had directed a rapid response team of 2,000 Marines to Mediterranean shores off Palestine.
