GAZA October 24.2023 (Saba) - On Tuesday, the Government of Japan announced a $10 million emergency grant in response to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
A statement by Japan's Representative Office to the State of Palestine, quoted by the Palestinian news agency Wafa, stated that the grant would be distributed by $7 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and $3 million to the International Committee of the Red Cross in areas such as food, water, medical care and health.
The statement continued that the Government of Japan "will continue to monitor the current situation closely and with great interest, and to work actively with the parties concerned in cooperation with other countries and international organizations, and will work towards the earliest easing of the situation and improvement of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and will continue to consider timely assistance based on needs on the ground".
