[08/March/2010]

br> SANA'A, March 08 (Saba) – The local authorities of the south provinces of Abyan, Lahj and Dalei have demanded the Cabinet to quickly close the Al-Jazeera Satellite Channel's office in Yemen, the state-run 26sep.net has reported.

The governors of the three provinces noted, in their letters sent to the cabinet, that the channel has lost its credibility and neutrality and breached the media professional ethics and rules by broadcasting false and offensive news and reports targeting Yemen and its national unity.

Al-Jazeera channel has gone far beyond the dissemination of the fabricated news that are baseless, to promote the culture of hatred and incite sedition and amid the Yemeni people through its programs and debates on Yemen, the governors pointed out.

Thus, it has abandoned the most basic values of the profession and the goals of the media message supposed that it performs and went defaming all things related to Yemen, they added.

On Sunday, an official source at the Information Ministry said that Yemen has criticized Al-Jazeera over reporting on the situations in its southern provinces of Dhale and Abyan, saying the channel had fabricated stories.

We urge Al-Jazeera to stop fabrications and falsifying the facts and abandon igniting the situation so that it will never lose its credibility in Yemen, the source concluded.
