Islamabad – Saba:
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan announced on Tuesday that the death toll from the heavy monsoon rains and flash floods sweeping the country since late June has risen to 234, with 596 others injured.

In a statement, the NDMA reported that among the victims were 79 men, 42 women, and 113 children, adding that rescue operations and aid delivery to affected residents are ongoing.

The authority noted that approximately 826 homes have been damaged due to the rains and floods, while the Meteorological Department predicted that rainfall will continue until next August.

Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change, with its 240 million inhabitants facing increasingly frequent and severe weather events.
