Eye of Humanity Centre condemns crime of targeting five children in Taiz District

Sana'a - Saba:

The Eye of Humanity Centre for Rights and Development has condemned in the strongest terms the brutal crime committed by mercenaries of the American-Saudi aggression, targeting civilians in the Al-Arsum area of Jabal Al-Habil, Taiz district, which claimed the lives of five children after they were hit by an artillery shell.

In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the centre considered the crime as an extension of a series of crimes and grave violations that the aggression coalition and its mercenaries have been committing against civilians in Yemen for more than ten years, in flagrant defiance of humanitarian norms and international laws that criminalise the targeting of civilians, especially children who enjoy special protection under international humanitarian law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The statement pointed out that the continued targeting of residential neighbourhoods and safe homes with artillery shelling, accompanied by international silence and disregard by United Nations institutions, is a stain on the international community and encourages the perpetrators to continue their crimes.

The Eye of Humanity Centre for Rights and Development held the US-Saudi-Emirati coalition of aggression and its mercenaries fully legally and criminally responsible for this crime and other crimes committed against civilians.

It called on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organisations to shoulder their responsibilities in condemning the criminal escalation, working to lift the blockade imposed on the Yemeni people, and prosecuting the perpetrators and bringing them before the International Criminal Court to receive their just punishment.
