Wonsan - Saba:
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Saturday that the participation of Korean People's Army soldiers in the liberation of Russia's Kursk Province is practical evidence of the depth of the strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea, describing relations between the two countries as "invincible brotherhood".
Sputnik reported that Lavrov's statement came during his meeting with Choe Son Hui, North Korea's Foreign Minister, in the city of Wonsan.
Lavrov said: "During the first round of our strategic talks, you described the new strategic agreement between our two countries as a solid foundation for an invincible fighting brotherhood." Your heroic participation in the battles of Kursk Oblast tangibly confirmed what you expressed, as Korean People's Army soldiers fought alongside Russian fighters, sacrificing their blood and even their lives to liberate the region from the Ukrainian Nazis.
The meeting comes as part of the second round of the strategic dialogue between the two countries' foreign ministries, amid a remarkable rapprochement in political and military relations between Moscow and Pyongyang.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Wonsan, North Korea, on Friday for talks with his Korean counterpart, Choe Son-hui, as part of the second round of the strategic dialogue at the foreign ministers' level.
Following his visit to the DPRK, Lavrov is scheduled to travel to China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers' meeting. Lavrov arrived in the DPRK from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he participated in the ASEAN foreign ministers' meetings and the East Asia Summit.
