Hodeida - Saba:
Hodeida Governor Abdullah Attifi inspected on Saturday the progress of repair work on water barriers and the leveling of protective embankments in the valleys of Azlat Al-Jahba Al-Ulya and Azlat Al-Masa’id in Al-Durayhimi District. These structures were damaged by floods during the previous rainy season.
During the visit, Governor Attifi reviewed the efforts made by the Protection and Emergency Unit and the Community Initiatives Department, in cooperation with the local authority in the district, as part of joint efforts to protect villages and rehabilitate affected agricultural lands.
The governor was briefed by Al-Durayhimi District Director Mohammed Al-Musai on the nature of the work carried out in the two valleys, which included repairing damaged water barriers and leveling flood channels and outlets. These measures aim to protect nearby villages and improve water flow toward agricultural lands.
Al-Musai explained that these efforts will mitigate future flood damage and enable farmers to better utilize rainwater for irrigation, enhancing agricultural stability and preserving income sources for residents in the targeted areas.
Governor Attifi praised these efforts, which reflect the practical implementation of the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council to address citizens' suffering and safeguard affected villages from flood risks. He stressed the importance of continuing proactive protection work ahead of the upcoming rainy season.
He noted that the project demonstrates the cohesion between state institutions and the community within the national vision for building a modern Yemeni state. He commended the role of local cadres and the Community Initiatives Department in the governorate, emphasizing the commitment to mobilizing all available resources to strengthen community resilience and recovery.
Governor Attifi highlighted that Hodeida is witnessing significant transformations in developmental and community work, adding that the local authority is keen on rehabilitating damaged sites and continuing vital water projects in coordination with relevant entities.
The governor was accompanied during the visit by the Director of the Initiatives Department in the governorate, Ahmed Hayaj, Secretary-General of the District Local Council Abdullah Abkar, Mobilization and Recruitment Official Ali Issa, and Al-Durayhimi District Initiatives Official Abdullah Hadish.
