French President Emmanuel Macron called on Thursday for joint recognition of the State of Palestine by France and the United Kingdom.
During a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Macron considered this step "the only path that leads to a horizon for peace."
He added, "I believe in the necessity of uniting our voices in Paris, London, and everywhere else to recognize the State of Palestine and to launch this political dynamic that alone will lead to a horizon for peace," according to the European network Euronews.
For his part, Starmer affirmed his country's commitment to reaching a just political settlement of the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the importance of the international community's role in supporting the Palestinian people and achieving comprehensive peace and stability in the region.
The call comes as part of Macron's three-day visit to Britain, which concluded with a bilateral summit that focused on several strategic issues, including bilateral relations, European security, military cooperation, as well as regional and international issues.
