Brussels – Saba:
The European Union announced today, Thursday, that it has reached an agreement with Israel that includes “significant steps” to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas stated in an official release: “We have agreed with Israel on important measures to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.”
According to Kallas, the agreed steps include a “substantial increase” in the number of daily trucks carrying food and non-food items entering Gaza.
The measures also include opening additional crossings in both the northern and southern parts of Gaza, and reopening aid routes at border crossings with Jordan and Egypt.
Furthermore, the agreement involves facilitating the distribution of food supplies through bakeries and public kitchens across Gaza.
These steps are expected to be implemented “in the coming days,” with a mutual understanding on the need to ensure large-scale and “direct” delivery of aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
