Russian tennis player Mira Andreeva (18 years old) ended Mayar Sherif's run at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the season, which is being played on grass courts with a total prize pool of £53.5 million.
According to Russia Today, the rising Russian star defeated her Egyptian opponent in straight sets (6-3, 6-3) in a first-round match that lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes on Tuesday.
With this victory, Andreeva advances to the second round, where she will face Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti, who earlier defeated Denmark’s Clara Tauson in straight sets (6-4, 7-5).
This marks another early exit for Mayar Sherif in a Grand Slam, while Andreeva continues to showcase her potential as one of the sport’s promising young talents.
