Ramallah - Saba:
The Palestinian National Council has affirmed that the blatant Israeli attack on the Madeleine ship and the kidnapping of those on board, including freedom activists, international artists, members of parliament, and prominent humanitarian figures, is nothing but an organized act of piracy.
Council Chairman Rawhi Fattouh explained in a statement on Monday that this crime reflects the nature of the right-wing occupation government led by a fugitive wanted by international justice, who disregards international law and continues his aggressive practices, even against peaceful humanitarian initiatives.
He added that intercepting the ship at sea and preventing it from delivering symbolic aid to our people, who are facing a war of genocide, constitutes organized state terrorism and a flagrant violation of international law.
Fattouh emphasized that this criminal attack on a ship whose mission was to deliver symbolic humanitarian aid and break the unjust blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip is thuggery and a new crime added to the occupation's long record of violations.
He stressed that the ongoing blockade is leading daily to a real humanitarian catastrophe, killing dozens of children and elderly people and deepening the suffering of more than two million people trapped in the Gaza Strip for years.
Fattouh called on all free people around the world, including parliamentarians, intellectuals, activists, and humanitarian organizations, to take immediate and effective action to break the unjust blockade imposed on Gaza and to raise their voices against this prolonged injustice.
He called for action in international forums to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes, including the attack on the Madeleine and the illegal abduction of its passengers.
Fattouh appealed to the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities and pressure the occupation to immediately release the abductees who stand in solidarity with freedom and justice, ensure freedom of humanitarian work, and lift the blockade on the occupied Palestinian territories, which have been suffering from the catastrophes of genocidal aggression and ethnic cleansing for 611 days.
