Munich – Saba:
Bayern Munich announced on Thursday the acquisition of international defender Jonathan Tah on a four-year contract, extending until the summer of 2029.
The transfer from Bayer Leverkusen was secured without a fee, marking Bayern's first signing for the upcoming season.
The Bavarian club confirmed the signing on their website, stating that the 29-year-old German international has joined on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, with his contract running until June 30, 2029. The central defender will wear the number 4 jersey for the Bundesliga champions.
Tah, born in Hamburg to a German mother and an Ivorian father, began his professional journey at Hamburg's academy in 2009, making his senior debut in August 2013.
The international center-back also had a loan spell at Fortuna Düsseldorf, where he made 23 appearances, before signing with Bayer Leverkusen prior to the 2015-16 season.
During his time with Leverkusen, Tah played a total of 402 first-team matches, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists. He was a key part of the team that achieved the league and cup double in 2024, in addition to winning the Super Cup.
Tah made his debut for the German national team in March 2016 under then-coach Joachim Löw and has since represented Germany at the 2016 and 2024 European Championships, earning 35 international caps.
