Taiz - Saba:
The four-day training and introductory workshop on urban planning and settlements, organized by the local authority, concluded in Taiz Governorate.
The workshop, which was attended by 40 participants from the Land Authority, the Public Works Sector, and representatives of community components in the targeted locations, was attended by 40 participants.
The workshop aimed to prepare 37 detailed model urban plans covering an area of 2,532 hectares in the new city of Taiz. This was aimed at reducing informal construction and community conflicts and promoting investment, transparency, and justice during the preparation and implementation phases.
The workshop participants recommended that all those working in the field of planning and settlements undertake field technical work in the 37 targeted locations and complete surveying and field inspections to prevent exceeding the specified ceiling for submitting documents to the plans. This will enable the planning team to begin preparing the initial drafts of the plans.
The recommendations urged owners and rights holders to register their documents with the Settlement Committee and utilize the remaining announced time period. They also urged the Settlement Committee to obtain the necessary documents to enable it to carry out its field tasks related to the initial valuation before and after planning, in accordance with the timeframe specified in the implementation plan.
They highlighted the importance of activating local communication with the central leadership responsible for supervising, planning, and monitoring planning and settlement activities, enabling the implementation of a pioneering experience that serves all governorates and establishes Taiz as a model in the field of urban planning.
The recommendations emphasized the obligation of all parties to properly implement field and technical work related to planning and settlement activities in accordance with the governing legal texts, and to adhere to the principles of justice, transparency, and publicity.
They called for the involvement of the local community in all stages of preparation and implementation in accordance with the legal texts, and for efforts to address obstacles and difficulties promptly throughout all stages.
The recommendations highlighted the importance of requiring relevant offices and institutions to prepare studies for service sites within the framework of the targeted planning sites and submit a written, timed plan not exceeding one month, as well as to complete the sub-legal frameworks at the governorate level.
