Sana'a - Saba:
Foreign Minister Jamal Ahmed Amer met on Tuesday with Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Yemen Hans Grundberg.
Minister Amer emphasized that Sana'a's strategic goal is a just and lasting peace that avoids internal conflicts.
He pointed out that Sana'a is unified in its position, in contrast to the other party, which has conflicting directions and external affiliations.
Amer also discussed a setback in the peace process when an agreement with Riyadh, based on a roadmap proposed by the UN envoy, was halted after Washington instructed Saudi Arabia to suspend it. This was due to the Yemeni government's support for Gaza, which had been a key point of contention, with Saudi Arabia demanding that Yemen stop supporting Gaza as a precondition for peace.
Amer reiterated the Yemeni government’s readiness to sign the first phase of the peace roadmap, questioning the United Nations' stance on the matter.
He stressed that there is no reason to link the peace process in Yemen with its operations supporting Gaza, explaining that Sayyed Leader Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi had set a simple, fair and less costly equation, the content of which is to end the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip in exchange for ending the operations supporting Gaza, but Washington is only concerned with the interests of the Zionist entity and defending it, without caring about any humanitarian issues in light of the blatant international failure.
The Minister further criticized the actions of Saudi Arabia and the UAE, claiming they are fueling the war by organizing meetings and preparing for a wider conflict, while maintaining control over the territories they occupy.
He also warned against replicating the Syrian conflict in Yemen and asserted that the economic blockade on Yemeni banks would be resolved by other means.
In response, UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg reiterated the United Nations' commitment to continuing its efforts to achieve peace in Yemen, stating that these efforts would not cease.
