Gelsenkirchen - Saba: Italian side Atalanta defeated Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 in the second round of the UEFA Champions League last night.
Atalanta took the lead after 21 minutes of the match, which was played at the German club Schalke's stadium in Gelsenkirchen due to the Russian war in Ukraine.
Nigerian Ademola Lookman added the Italian side's second goal in the 44th minute.
Three minutes into the second half, Raul Bellanova completed Atalanta's hat-trick as last season's Europa League champions secured their first win in the Champions League.
The win took Atalanta's tally to four points after a goalless draw with Arsenal in the first round, and the Italian side will play at home in the third round against Scottish Celtic.
Shakhtar Donetsk, on the other hand, were held to one point after a goalless draw with Bologna in the first round, and will face a tough test in the third round when they host Arsenal in London.
